Threat or warning
Luckily I've never had access problems anywhere I've lived. I do get fed up with the way visitors to my neighbours park sometimes (often actually) but it's never too hard to get in. Having a small car helps too.
Often in older residential areas access and parking is now a constant problem. Cars are more numerous, bigger, and councils seem to be continually imposing more and more parking restrictions. This latter especially annoys me as most of these restricted places seem to be half empty most of the time.
This is one possible solution. Obviously the owner would get into trouble were they to carry out the threat, but at least it reminds people. I'll admit there's been times I've thought about painting some double yellow lines opposite my house....
