Cave Swallow
Sighting of a Cave Swallow in Southern Ontario is not a common event; after all they are species from far south such as Texas, Mexico and the Carribean. Yet, last few days there were reports of them along the shores of Lake Ontario, between Oshawa and Niagara. A flock was probably pushed north by strong wind. So, when the opportunity came, I drove to McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve in Oshawa to see one. It was flying around to pick up insects in the air and then coming down to pebble beach to rest and possibly for warmth from stones and sand. This is a life bird for me.
