Cry Baby

This Bald Eagle fledgling left the nearby nest and managed to land on this branch a day earlier (heard from another birder). He/she was eager to get back to the nest but afraid to try. So it was constantly whining - eventually the momma bird brought a big fish (next photo). However the chick couldn't get hold of it, dropped the fish and went back to whining. Then came along the papa bird with a half-eaten fish - this time I believe the transfer was successful. I heard later that it managed to get back to the nest and was doing well. Though odds are stacked up against it surviving the first year, I hope this one grows up to be a powerful adult just like its parents. Cambridge, Ontario
