Eviction Notice
As served by an adult Bald Eagle to a pair of Canada Goose who took up temporary residence in the Eagle nest where not more than 10 minutes earlier this Eagle was seen arranging the furniture. As the geese settled in I started wondering what would happen if the Eagle showed up. And then it happened, in a flash. The geese suddenly took off and headed straight down to the river while honking loud. From the corner of my eye I saw the Eagle zeroing in on them real fast. This is the first of a sequence of shots I managed to get of that interaction. I was standing far away and by the time the camera focused on the birds the attack was almost over. Though this year the Eagles are not going to have any chicks; they are still ready to defend their nest against any intruder. I wonder how long the eagles hang around their nest after the incident of a nest failure. Brantford, Ontario
