In Japan, unlike Western countries, men tend not to loose their hair as early or to such a degree as many European and Middle Eastern men do, so hair loss is even more of a trauma in these parts. Reading the votive sticks in this shrine gives a pretty good idea of what people worry about when it comes to hair.
