Thursday Project

 

DEBORAH PFEIFFER has an M.A. In Creative Writing from University of Massachusetts Boston, is on the executive board of Greater Boston Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, and has been privileged to study with Martha Collins, Bruce Weigl, Eva Bourke, and Lloyd Shwartz. She is currently writing about the history of the Concord and Merrimack Rivers.

 

MOLLY LYNN WATT, author of Shadow People, On the Wings of Song, (manuscript), which is set during the Civil Rights Movement, and “Consider This,” which commissioned for “Across the Ages.” “Civil Rights Update,” paired with Dr. King’s Dream speech is required in Dallas Schools. She co-created and performs with Dan Lynn Watt, George & Ruth: Songs & Letters of the Spanish Civil War, curates The Fireside Readings, edited Bagelbard Anthology volumes 1-4, is poetry editor for HILR Review, and teaches poetry at HILR. She plays the ukulele and was co-founder of the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston.

 

BARBARA THOMAS, author of Seduced by Sighs of Trees (Cervena Barva Press) currently teaches nature writing, and reviews books and journals. An English teacher in the Boston Public Schools for 35 years, Barbara is a graduate of Russell Sage College and Boston University. Her poetic research began at Joiner Center for War and Social Consequences, where she is an active member. She also contributes to the Greek Institute and Glenbrook, an environmental writing group.

 

 

HOLLY GURAN, author of River Tracks (Poets Corner Press), placed

second in the Explorations contest, was a featured poet in the

Aurorean and Bellowing Ark, and has recently been published in

Borderlands, Worcester Review, Poet Lore, and Poetry East. Her poems

were on display at Boston City Hall. A member of Jamaica Pond Poets

and the Thursday Project, Holly is working on a series based on

nineteenth century mill life in the Lowell area.

 

 

RUBY POLTORAK, a native Bostonian, is a Yiddish vocalist and Klezmer drummer and is in the concert ensemble of the Boston Workmen’s CircleYiddish Chorus, which has performed at the Somerville Theatre and Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center. She teaches and translates Yiddish. Her poems have been published in Summer Home Review, were on display at Boston City Hall, and have been staged at the Shubert Theater and at the Wang's Grand Lobby. She read for the 80th birthday celebration of Dennis Brutus (the African National Congress poet), and those poems reside in the Brutus Collection at Worcester State College.

 

 

 

ELIZABETH QUINLAN, author of Promise Supermarket (Ibbetson Street Press), is a poet and visual artist, as well as a graduate of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. She received an Honor in Creative Writing from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and has been a member of the Joiner Center for the Study of War and Social Consequences for fourteen years.
