Donor Routemasters @ Kilmarnock
I seem to recall Western were involved in preparing Clydeside's Routemasters for service ..Not sure how many spare RM,s were acquired for parts only. Anyway these three examples have been stripped of their glass and other panels
Having just read George Watson's excellent book on Clydeside Scottish the figures mentioned purchasing surplus Routemasters were relatively cheap..£2,500 for a roadworthy MOT'd bus , £500 -1000 for a scrapper that had to be capable of driving to Scotland under it's own steam ..these prices included the cherished numbers. Once stripped of all the useful parts the RM carcass had a scrap value of £1000 ..so it was a no lose situation .
