Longitudinal Ligaments
This was the gotcha. I destroyed the anterior and posterior longitudinal ligaments connecting C6 and C7 cervical vertebrae and munched the disk. Rendering my neck unstable which is not good.
I still don't know, analyzing the accident, why the C6 and C7 didn't move laterally, damaging the spinal cord. I was extremely lucky to not have nerve damage or be knocked unconscious and drown.
Lots of misc muscles and ligaments damaged.
Should recover completely with no loss of strength in neck.
