The workers were fired from Del Monte after the Hurricane destroyed parts of the plantation. They were told that they and their families had to evacuate the area. They have nowhere to go so they stay supporting each other as a community. Many men have since been shot between the plantation and Morales, the next nearest town. These men were considered leaders of the community often traveling to Morales to meet lawyers who would not enter the site. This community lives in fear daily from armed workers who drive up and down the roads in pick up trucks.
