This Yellow Bellied Slider Terrapin was seen chilling out on the boating pond at Bushy.
Terrapins were native to the UK about 8000 years ago, and following the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon craze of the late 1980s many people, having bought them as pets, dumped them in their local ponds when they got bored of looking after them. They are now an invasive species.
