Young ram and ewe beside lodge playground afternoon of the second day and the ending of the major storm.... i'll put up a short video of a buffalo in the same spot the morning before..... and a still of a small band of deer the morning after this shot... Big game are drawn to the grounds in major storms primarily for our spring water and short feed near the ground water source...Experience has taught me not to manicure lodge grounds so there might be food for the wildlife especially when the winters grow long. These stress times are critical for big games survival and I try not to disturb them in any way so as not to cause them to burn vital energy stores hoping they will make it to spring... So too there is a certain safety I think being near a human source during deep snow because the predators are having a hay day right now.... there are lion, coyote and wolf kills nearby and in every direction of the lodge right now...
