Doing the Dishes

In Malawi, Africa, 12-year old Flossy gets up at 4:00am to haul water from a distant stream about a mile from her mud-floored house. When she gets home she washes the dishes from last night's humble dinner of cornmeal porridge. More than 300 million Africans currently do not have clean water near their homes - and hauling water from faraway streams is left to the women and girls.
