Cradled by the mountains, Ouray is snuggled in by the starry night. A very small town, with little to no light population; the milky way watches over like a guardian angel.
This shot is made by two different images. The milky way image was actually shot behind the town of Ouray on the opposite side. The sky looked so plain in the background, and I felt it didn't emphasis Ouray's isolation enough. I took a long exposure of the town itself leaving room for the milky way to be PS'ed into the image. Then the swung my tripod 180 degrees and took a long exposure shot of the milky way. I took multiple shots of both locations so I had more photos to work with. Once this was done, I used PS to complete my desired effect.
