Aerial ballet
I decided to convert this shot to monochrome, on the basis that it conveys mainly shape and form. The gannet, (Morus bassanus) was approaching a landing spot at the clifftops of RSPB Bempton nature reserve and the shapes it was making seemed rather balletic as it it started to slow down and control its descent in a rather brisk onshore wind. I have also added a subtle vignette, to help further separate the subject from the defocussed background. I will post the colour version in a few days' time as a comparison and because I quite like both versions.
