Another Tammy tester

Still playing around with the Tamron 150-600. I am mostly shooting at the full 600mm and as long as you stop down it does not seem too bad at all, certainly not as soft as I was led to believe from some reviews. AF on the 5D3 is both fast and accurate in all modes inc AI Servo. I cannot speak for other Cameras although I have briefly tried the lens on my 'ancient' 40D and again the AF seemed fine. Obviously this lens does not come up to a Canon Supertele but competes well with the likes of the 100-400 and 400/5.6 and you have the advance of extra reach. It is head and shoulders better than a couple of other third party zoom lenses that I have tried in the past. The VC (IS) is very effective if hand holding although I prefer shooting from a tripod at these focal lengths so turn the VC off. The real test for me will be shooting distant waders when they return to the estuary. All I can say at this point is that it is a very good value for money for sure.

BTW this shot was taken at the full 600 mm. Nothing special but not too shabby either I would say.
