Butterfly Eggs on a Bean With Knife Handle
“The butterfly's attractiveness derives not only from colors and symmetry: deeper motives contribute to it. We would not think them so beautiful if they did not fly, or if they flew straight and briskly like bees, or if they stung, or above all if they did not enact the perturbing mystery of metamorphosis: the latter assumes in our eyes the value of a badly decoded message, a symbol, a sign." - Primo Levi
While making dinner, my partner spotted this on a bean. Others may consider this disgusting, but I saw this as a photo opportunity. I didn't even know what they were until I googled them! The fact that the pattern that the eggs made were the same a the knife handle that we were using meant that that photo opportunity found me for once!
Shot with a 580EXII into a reflector camera left and above.
