This is for my sister B. jeweled, who's been waiting patiently for several days - maybe a week, or longer? - for me to post a watercolor-type shot. I told her about a new program I bought - aquarella (from jixipix) - and what cool effects it had. But you know how it is - you do a couple of shots at 11:00 at night, and go to bed really liking them. Then you get up and see them in the morning, and realize they need more work (or you just trash them). I'm not totally satisfied with this shot, but I'm kinda tired of working on it, so here it is. I think part of my problem is that I tend to like saturated colors, but watercolor effects are probably better done with a lighter touch. I know from other post processing that you need to start with the right kind of photo, too, and maybe this isn't one. I don't have the feel for reliably guessing which photos might work with aquarella yet, definitely need more practice. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be seeing more of my attempts in the future.

I do want to thank my long-time contact, forestlady, for telling me about aquarella. She does fabulous painterly work, mostly with apps that don't work on my desktop. I never thought to look for other watercolor programs until she suggested it. Aquarella, of course, has pros and cons, and I'm not sure how much I like it yet. But at only $9.99, it's worth a tryout for me. the original shot is in the first comment box if you want to see it.
