Roots and wings

As a little boy you were totally nuts . . . ok, so something don’t change. You challenged yourself and me at every turn in the road. At times I wished you would just grow up a bit so it wouldn’t be so hard, such a challenge . . . in my next life I’m NEVER going to wish that~ Because that wish came true, and you grew up too fast. Now I wish I could go back to those crazy days when you were just my little boy . . . and I was your world.

 

You are so fantastic and one of my best friends . . . I am so excited for this next phase of your life. I am excited to see the man you will grow into . . . but the selfish part of me wants to keep you my little boy forever! I know it can’t happen . . . but it’s still a wish in my heart . . . that you always stay the same as you are right now . . . today.

 

Son, no matter what you do, what star you set your sights on, you will get there . . . I have so much faith in you. They say the two things as parents we must give our children is “Roots and wings”. Have I give you those two things? I hope so. Roots so you know where you come from, how to be grounded, and the man you can be . . . and wings so you can soar to the stars and achieve all the fantastic things I know you are destined to realize.

 

No matter where life takes you I hope you always remember~ you are loved, your manners, and your way home.
