The Asthma Quilt
As seen in the Pratt Institute Gallery on West 14th Street. They have a very interesting exhibit right now "You are Here NYC: Art, Information, and Mapping". This quilt made of recycled wool felt fabric samples maps the connection of higher incidents of asthma in lower income communities in NYC. The quilt is sponsored by the law firm Perkins & Will to be auctioned off at their annual fundraiser for the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The exhibit ends November 15 and is well worth a visit. Student projects include mapping the baseball diamonds in the city to tracking the number of times New Yorkers use the words love and hate in twitter feeds.
