Okay I've seen everything on this floor.

The art in Paris is overwhelming. And Musee d'Orsay is no exception. Look at this huge painting--Luncheon on the Grass by Claude Monet. The painting was started in 1884 and was created as a tribute to a painting by Manet, who had created a painting also entitled Luncheon On the Grass. The original Monet painting was much larger, but Monet eventually used it to pay rent by giving it to his landlord. The landlord rolled it up and stored it until Monet got it back, in somewhat of a moldy state. Those parts were cut up and eliminated. What you see here is what was left. It is magnificent up close.
