Rochdale Canal

This is Knott Mill looking towards Castlefield in Manchester, with a class 304 emu also in the shot travelling along the Manchester South Junction & Altrincham railway, which passes over the disused Rochdale Canal at this point with its abandoned barges slowly rotting away, it seemed a very dark and menacing place to me as a child, as i seem to be reluctantly getting out of our MK1 Escort there.

Today with the regeneration of the Castlefield area this is a very vibrant place and the canal is navigational again.
