Autograph of Joannes Clausius, Landschreiber; unidentified "GV" or "VG" monogram; woodcut title border by Erhard Schön, used by Hieronymus Höltzel of Nuremberg
Joann: Clausius Landschreiber u.[?]
[Autograph of a Joannes Clausius. Landschreiber is probably a title, indicating a government administrative or secretarial position. Cf. German Wikipedia on the topic. A Johannes Clausius (d. 1591) was pastor of Marxheim-Diedenberg in Hesse, but the name seems common enough that more evidence is needed to suggest this identification. Cf. W. Diehl, "Beiträge zur Schulgeschichte der Herrschaft Eppstein" in Annalen des Vereins für Nassauische Altertumskunde und Geschichtsforschung 33. Bd. (1902-1903), p. 44 and Archiv für Hessische Geschichte und Alterthumskunde, 15. Bd. (Darmstadt: Klingelhöffer, 1884), p. 663.]
Unidentified "GV" or "VG" monogram.
Woodcut title border by Erhard Schön, used by Hieronymus Höltzel of Nuremberg. Cf. H. Röttinger, Erhard Schön, 20; J. Luther, Titeleinfassungen der Reformationszeit, 119.
Established form: Schön, Erhard, ‡d d. 1542.
Established form: Höltzel, Hieronymus, ‡d fl. 1500-1525.
