1/26 -- Sibley, in the afternoon light

Studio 26, assignment on indoor photography

I was so enamored of Nancy's shot of Cooper, with the distant little furniture, I wanted to do one too. I couldn't get quite the distance, & the intense directional light from the glass door to Sibley's left cast half of her face in deep shadow, but here is our domestic shot.

I loved this assignment! So very useful to try a more organized approach to proper exposure of black dogs in indoor light! I chose this one for my final image, as it was one of my more ambitious ideas, & I really had to work at it. It involved watching light changes through the day & choosing a propitious time, & rearranging the furniture (getting rid of a chair which stuck up distractingly behind Sibley's head, & also swapping out a little table, as the one that usually sits beside the couch has curved legs which looked ever so odd from this height. Also requiring multiple posing sessions for Miss Sibley, while I figured out position of camera & distances, also waiting for her to move her head into a pleasing position. Wasn't she a star, to put up with all that & still look relaxed!
