Living Waters Ministry
Darren and I left the high mountains on the 2nd day of our trip, heading on down seeing a few waterfalls along the way. We skipped all of the high altitude well known ones around the parkway and such as Courthouse since it appeared that the water up there had been greatly diminished after not having rain several days. I'm really picky about shooting waterfalls, I just find them unacceptable on sunny days and when they are at 1/2 flow. Part of my appreciation of a good shot is often the sacrifice or difficulty photographers have to endure in order to catch waterfalls and streams under the best circumstances...anybody can just show up when it's convenient but that rarely seems to work for me. I tend to not go on primarily waterfall trips of great distance anymore outside of winter since it's hard to get consistently overcast skies other times of year, and treat them as targets of opportunity. Fortunately here we were getting regular cloud blockage of the sun, and the water on down the mountains in larger watersheds was still doing fine. This was our first waterfall stop this day (other than the one we camped beside) and it had been several years since I had visited.
When we left home to begin this trip we had no set plans on where we would go, or what we would see...not even sure what states we'd visit or where we would be sleeping. We just wanted only good photos and went with whatever was blooming while avoiding what wasn't, and took the falls when the weather let us. We were also treated to some really nice surprises that will be posted later.
