Revelling in resin
James Dorey and I recently visited Marc Newman's bee heaven at Ballandean on the Granite belt in SE Queensland, and we were lucky enough to see these small Megachile Bees collecting resin from an Angophora floribunda. We also saw a lot of mating behaviour.
The main photo and the photo in the first comment box show female bees leaving with a load of resin in their mandibles. The last two are of a male waiting and hoping to mate with one of the females.
These bees are possibly Megachile (Hackeriapis) tosticauda.
