Bags of pollen!
Another tiny bee collecting pollen from two of our salvias. This is Tetragonula carbonaria, about 4 mmm in length. This species belongs to the Australian family of social stingless bees, members of which actual make honey, albeit in much smaller quantities than the honey bee (Apis mellifera). The honey has a very distinctive taste.
