The Eternal War of Heart and Mind
The cause I am visually trying to describe is the evermore controversy between the vicious heart and the logical mind. The heart’s everlasting wants and needs for the pleasures in life are eternal and this never stops. The heart always tempts the mind into doing the most evil and vile things to get what it wants. The mind gets seduced by the heart to do its bidding. The heart has greater power over the body. As one wise man said “my mind tells me to give it up, but my heart won’t let me". However, with its miniscule power, the mind wins out; thus the mind and the heart battle out, with an cycle that goes on forever with different emotions and thoughts of pleasure and logic. the images i used to make this collage successful was a heart. However, the heart is broken and locked, and the person that is lying on the gurney is dying. His heart is weary, but his heart still says to him messages of want and hate. Dying and unwanted thoughts fill his head. Some visual symbols that i used were he words that are transfered from the heart to the head, and back. This shows the ultimate feeling of repression, but it comes back up, just like an unnoticeable stain. this stain is the broken, black evil heart.
I used photoshop techniques in a variety of ways. First, i used the heart and i placed it into the hand using cropping tools and changing the opacity and contrast. I also used the text in photoshop. I rotated the words and made them decrease in size going back, making the text have depth. I also made the text certain colors which were blue and red. Blue and red represents veins and arteries going and coming in the heart.
In this project, we used two different techniques, which were hand made materials and photoshop techniques to make the whole collage. I, personally, first wanted to do most of the collage by hand, however in the tangible world, there is not enough material to do this project, so this project was started out by hand, but the notion of hand made collage was completely trashed and photoshop techniques were used to make this collage. The easier technique was photoshop because in this technological world, the computer is mostly used, and it is more efficient. Photoshop is a very great resource.
This collage is very meaningful to me and perhaps and everyone in the world because this "eternal war" happens to everyone and this war must be fought every single day of our lives.
