Motionless in Blea Tarn . . . Explore 21-11-2016 #8

The morning had begun with heavy showers, but as the day progressed the skies started to clear. After arriving at the National Trust parking area at Blea Tarn and making the sizeable parking fee (£££) it was a short walk to the shore of Blea Tarn. This was my composition choice after a little searching for a composition among the many rocks in Blea Tarn that were uncovered with the low water level.

On the right is a portion of the Lingmoor Fell leading down to Side Pike. In the distance are the Langdale Pikes. Capturing this image was a bit more involved, as the foreground rocks were off shore enough that I was standing in ankle deep water so my slightest movement would disturb the smooth water surface . . . I became quite proficient at standing motionless while holding the remote shutter release. There were several rocks near by that I had attempted to balance on, but it soon became apparent to me that my balancing skills were not sufficient for me to remain dry for long if I were to continue that approach much longer.

After a repositioning of the tripod to keep the rock clear of the reflection of Lingmoor Fell it was just a matter of standing motionless and waiting for the ripples on Blea Tarn to calm down. This is the resulting image.
