The M50 engine throttle body takes a small feed of coolant from the engine to keep it warm in colder climates. As I don't live in a colder climate and have no intention of using the car in the winter, this isn't needed so I've made a small modification to the adapter on the head.
The inset photo shows the adapter itself which normally has a hose on. I wanted to just get a screw with the same thread to blank the hole off but this had my local fastener specialist scratching his head as the thread didn't seem to match any standard. To solve this I just ran an M8x1.25 tap down the hose end and popped in an M8 screw with some RTV sealant on the threads. You should really use a finer thread on applications where fluid is involved but as it is a low pressure system, the sealant should work.
I also cleaned up and reinstalled the two coolant temperature sensors with new washers. One tells the engine ECU what the temperature is and the other feeds the gauge on the dash. I'm not sure which is which. I will hopefully be able to use the dash one with the after market gauges if I can work out the calibration
