Christmas Cactus in the evening.

Schlumbergera truncata.

Abused, neglected, left out through the winters, overwatered, underwatered, trampled and pooped on by pigeons (they even nibble and break off the leaves) yet still it fights back.

The flowers close up every evening as seen above then open wide the following day when the sun shines on them.

 

Shame about the colour cast, it was evening and I used bounce flash. Either side of the plant are red velvet curtains (drapes ) which rather added to the hue.
