Entry #5 Uncle Balzac the Chameleon
Attached please find an entry for the project runway contest and some thoughts (explainers?):
1. If this is a contest that includes ‘degree of difficulty’ my entry will not win. This is a garter stitch scarf that is 6 stitches wide and probably 30 rows long
2. If this contest is based on the level of desperation of a mother trying to kindle her 5 year old son’s mild interest in knitting, my entry should win. The merest hint of interest and I had needles in hand to teach him to knit. We sat together doing a few rows and then I promised him our ‘project’ would be finished that night.
3. By fashion standards, this scarf is classic and simple. Also, this chameleon lives just south of Boston and it is cold up here (14 degrees today).
4. To add the final element of tragedy … shortly after these pictures were taken, Uncle Balzac (the chameleon) and his scarf were savagely mauled by our 1 year old pound hound. Uncle Balzac was repairable, but the scarf is only a memory.
Thanks for a fun contest and for helping me nurture a fledgling male knitter.
All the best,
Kathy
