Snowflakes - Feb 19, 2021 - 19
The other day I thought I was getting another chance to photograph snowflakes before the weather warms up, this time using a tripod. However 80 km/h wind gusts are not conducive to macro photography! At one point when I was about to press the shutter on what I was anticipating would be a pretty decent shot, the wind blew over a light that I had propped nearby onto the subject flake, completely obliterating it for eternity. And then blew the whole setup off the table to make sure I got the message!.
I got nothing, and so decided to re-check images that I had shot earlier but that had not fit what I was looking for at the time. I tried smudging out the fibres, but my initial attempts left the snowflakes looking too detached from reality, so for now I have left them in. Strangely, the shots from this earlier day were all hand held.
