William Murdoch

William Murdoch was employed by the firm of Boulton and Watt and worked for them in Cornwall, as a steam engine erector for ten years. Born in Scotland and after moving to Redruth he lived in this house from 1782 to 1798 and it was here he made the first locomotive.
