If you hate "Modern Art", blame this painting by Edouard Manet. [1832-1883]

 

The difference from Monet's painting is that he has placed nude women with men, which was an act causing outrage in France at this time 1863..

 

And another thing is the woman is looking at you probably causing discomfort. She is also Manet's wife, or I should say her body is. The head is one of Monet's models.

 

The French looked on art like they did wine as something to be carefully regulated during these times.

 

This painting is the beginning of Impressionism and Modern Art in Art History.
