Kontsern Kalashnikov SShA KMR-19Na

The new KMR-19N rifle by Kalashnikov was recently introduced in SHOT Show '21, and certainly stood out as an odd one among the bunch. It is, in every sense, a 'revamp' of the venerable Kalashnikov design with a lot of new features mixed in without sacrificing compatibility. Featuring a new 'unified' barrel trunnion assembly, it enables the user to easily swap between different barrels. It features a heavy-duty 1.5mm-thick stamped lower and upper receiver, which can certainly withstand some of the heavier calibers it's chambered in, like .308 and 7.62x54mmR. It can also use intermediate calibers like 5.45x39mm, 7.62x39mm, 6.1x39mm and .223. It features a slick dust cover that protects the charging handle recess, a brand-new lower receiver with an ambi thumb fire selector and charging handle but no provision for AK fire selectors, a receiver-mounted aperture sight, and with a completely different bolt and gas assembly. The stock is fully adjustable for cheek weld and length of pull, and also side-folding. What's fun is that you can still use the same old stocks, scope mounts, gas assemblies and bolts from your old AKs - I can just mix-and-match my AK-105 gas block, my rail adapter, Ultimak gas tube, WASR bolt and Zenitco stock and it'll still run perfectly well with them. A wide variety of handguard and pistol grip selections are going to be available as well. It's gonna be available in not just different calibers but also barrel lengths, from 14.5in up to 22in. And mind you, these barrels are heavier than they look.

KMR-19Nb: 6.1x39mm (35-rnd mag), 22' brl, normal gas tube, long gas block, enclosed front sight

KMR-19Nc: 6.1x39mm (25-rnd mag),16' brl, long gas tube, long gas block, iron sight on gas block

KMR-19Nd 5.45x39mm (20-round mag), 16' brl, normal gas tube, normal gas block, AK front sight

KMR-19Nd .308 (20-rnd mag), 14.5' brl, long gas tube, normal gas block, no front sight

--------------

I didn't really know what kind of description to write, but there you go. It's another AK revamp that tries to reinvent the wheel, with a lot of slick stuff going on with it. I have no idea how this came to being, but I hope you like it.
