iPhone 4 ( HDR ) - Hyper Stereo 3D_0672

These shots were taken in Greasebrough Rotherham. They are the first Hyper Stereo 3D landscapes iv attempted with my iPhone 4. While its 5MP camera may capture slightly less detail than my 16 MP Toshiba S20 camcorders, it does have 2 things in its favour for 3D photography.

First it has a wider field of view, which is useful for landscapes and secondly there is the HDR feature of the iPhone 4 camera. The phone takes 3 exposures with every shot, one with bright light, one with medium light and one with low light and then combines all 3 images into one HDR ( Higher Dynamic Range ) image.

The idea behind HDR is to reveal more detail in the excessively dark & light areas of a photo. Judge the difference for yourself, I think lighting is much more even in these shots and produces quite a nice 3D viewing experience.
