Happiness
Is there really such a thing as pure happiness? I don’t think I’ve ever met somebody who wasn’t fighting a hard battle, or who didn’t have scars hidden deep inside. I’ve never known someone who was in a good mood all the time, or who never got mad. So then is happiness just a myth - something someone made up to give people an unachievable dream? People always say that is doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, as long as your happy. But is that really true? Because in my experience, one’s journey to happiness is filled with nights crying yourself to sleep, words that hurt deep inside and confusion that makes you want to let go of everything. So is it even worth trying? Maybe we should all just strive to get by on the path of least resistence.
Is there really such a thing as pure happiness? Yes, there is; I’ve felt it - that uncontrollable smile, the way that your heart leaps into your throat and you can’t help but giggle. The elation that fills your whole body until you feel like bursting. I’ve felt that. So maybe happiness isn’t something that is always there, maybe you have to fall down a few times and cry a few tears before you can fully understand and appreciate it. Maybe happiness isn’t a destination, maybe it’s a refreshing pit stop on the road that is your life. Maybe happiness isn’t only there when the hurt and the anger have disappeared, maybe it’s there to help you cope with them - to give you a little hope in a world of despair. So, yes, there is such a thing as pure happiness; it’s there, you just have to find it.
