James Cameron's Deepsea Challenger Transported Through D.C.

A big rig transported the Deepsea Challenger through D.C. on June 11, 2013. It pulled over briefly on Pennsylvania Avenue where I spotted it and shot this video. Filmmaker James Cameron and his team of scientists and engineers built the Deepsea Challenger to reach the deepest places in Earth's oceans. Cameron got the world's attention in March 2012 when he dove solo into the world's deepest spot, the 6.8-mile-deep Mariana trench. He brought technology with him in the Deepsea Challenger needed to explore the ocean floor, conduct experiments and collect data, specimens and 3-D images unthinkable in an earlier time. The June 2013 issue of National Geographic has an excellent article about James Cameron and his Deepsea Challenger.
