Mount Lemmon Highway, Tucson, Arizona

That stretch of Mount Lemmon Highway threads through towering hoodoos and jagged rock spires like a snake through a jungle. While the curves suggest motion, it isn’t a landscape to rush through. Massive rock formations jut skyward and the sparse vegetation – scrubby junipers, maybe a few agaves – adds texture without softening the starkness.
