In this painting, we see the conclusion of the confrontation between a young boy and an older bully. The boy has taken charge of the situation and the would-be bully has had a reversal of fortune. He is no longer on his feet. He is no longer holding the boy’s hat out of reach. His eye is now black. And, right on cue, the boy’s dog is now chasing the bully’s dog.
