Wartime ad from the Vega Aircraft Corporation in “The Saturday Evening Post,” January 2, 1943.

The Vega Ventura was a medium bomber produced by the Vega Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of Lockheed, during World War II. Vega Ventura bombers were used by various Allied forces for different roles, such as daylight bombing, anti-shipping, anti-submarine, reconnaissance, and even night-fighting. They first entered combat in Europe with the RAF in late 1942, but proved to be too vulnerable to enemy fighters and were soon replaced by the faster de Havilland Mosquito. They continued to serve in the Pacific theater, where they performed better against the Japanese forces. In total, 3,028 Vega Ventura bombers were built by the end of the war.
