"The Pageant of Cape Cod on the Banks of the Canal." Postcard with poster art by Gerrit A. Beneker (1914).

The Pageant of Cape Cod was held in Bourne, Massachusetts on the banks of the Cape Cod Canal to celebrate its opening (July 19, 1914). The pageant was held August 15 to August 19 with local people enacting stories of American history.

The seven-mile-long (11 km) Cape Cod Canal traverses the narrow neck of land joining Cape Cod to the mainland and is part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. It connects Cape Cod Bay in the north to Buzzards Bay in the south.
