Trail Ridge Road: Part 4 - Stopping Off at the Alpine Visitor Center
Trail Ridge Road is the name for a stretch of U.S. Highway 34 that traverses Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes Park, Colorado in the east to Grand Lake, Colorado in the west. Often referred to as the highway in the sky, the Trail Ridge Road reaches a maximum elevation of 12,183 ft (3,713 m), I am traveling west from Estes Park to Grand Lake.
The first snow of the season fell the day before, so a light dusting of snow can be seen in the mountains. This video was shot on September 15 and by September 24 a portion of the Trail Ridge Road had to be temporarily closed due to heavy snow.
