Tales of the Frightened Vol. 1, No. 1 (Spring 1957). Cover Art by Rudy Nappi. Digest size
This magazine was a tie-in for a 1950’s syndicated radio show titled “The Frightened” in which the great actor and story-teller, Boris Karloff, told some chilling ghost stories. No one seems to know exactly how many episodes of this series were broadcast, and none of the original recordings survived. However, thirteen of the original stories were re-recorded in 1963 with musical atmospherics provided by early electronic music experimentalists, Tom Dissvelt and Kid Baltan.
