Brown thornbills, singing honeyeaters and a number of other passerines frequent the coastal scrub. They live on the nectar from the flowers, insects which abound and presumably some of the berries that ripen in season.
I also noticed not only the European honey bee, but considerable numbers of the small native bee, which is a good sign.
