1920's Mack Truck - Chain Drive Bulldog
This old truck sits on display in front of a local quarry in Chantilly, Virginia. Interestingly, the truck has mechanical brakes which squeeze a drum mounted up on the frame rather than in the wheel hubs. The rear wheels (only the front of two rear axles) are driven by a chain between the transmission/final drive and the, otherwise free wheeling rear hubs. The radiator is mounted above, and behind, the engine, on the firewall. This had to be a slow and rough ride for the operator.
