Eaton founded the Eaton's department store chain in 1869, which became one of the most important & influential department stores in Canada, filed for bankruptcy in 1999. The Eaton Mausoleum is modeled after the famous Maison Carrée of 16 BC at Nîmes, France, regarded as the best preserved of any surviving Roman temple. The majority of granite used in building the Eaton Mausoleum, particularly the columns and the expertly crafted Corinthian capitals, were imported from Scotland ....
