.... A barge and crane can be seen in Lake Ontario from the shores of Woodbine Beach, part of a new outfall tunnel construction project for the Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant. The construction will create a new 3,500 metre / 11,500 foot-long underwater tunnel intended to convey up to 3,923 megalitres per day of treated 'waste' from the Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant into Lake Ontario.
In other words, it's a massive underwater tunnel to transport treated water that formerly contained human liquid waste into the lake.
Thankfully, the water is fully treated and disinfected and only then is it discharged into Lake Ontario.
The construction including onshore and offshore work, and is expected to be completed by late 2023 ....
