Built 1849 .... Builder - Alexander Thompson .... in Georgian style .... Typical of 19th Century inn's found in Southern Ontario, the Half Way House served travellers and farmers bringing their goods to St. Lawrence Market in Toronto. It stood at the "half way" point to the market from the large farming village of Dunbarton. Half Way House also offered an overnight resting place for stagecoach passengers making the trip between small towns and Toronto ....
