Heidenheimer's Department Store. Heidenheimer's Anson store was founded in 1919 by Alfred Heidenheimer who had emigrated to Galveston, Texas from Wuerzburg, Germany in the early 1900s. It was the first Heidenheimer store, and closed in 1977. They were a chain with stores in various towns and cities including Ballinger, Cisco, Haskell, and Winters, Texas that were opened and managed by long-time employees and descendants of Alfred Heidenheimer. The store in Winters which was opened in 1937, was the last store still operating and closed in 2022.
